About Tori O'Connell

Hey Mama Darling!

Thank you for being here! My name is Tori O'Connell and this is our beautiful family of 4. I am married to my college sweetheart and we have two little girls together: Anna, the oldest, and Baby Emma, who joined our party May 2021. We live in the Dunes of North Sioux City, South Dakota and love being next door to the beautiful Missouri River. I grew up in small town Iowa of less than 350 people and my husband grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. We clearly had very different lives growing up but somehow were the perfect match.

Why did you start the blog and what's on here?

I created Hey Mama Darling after becoming a stay-at-home mama originally as a creative outlet. But this journey has been far from typical. In fact, you'll hear me say in stories I actually never had any intention of being a "blogger" especially so since I had just launched a small advertising biz pregnant with Emma on the way. But something had called me to share the positivity of motherhood to others. You can find everything from nursing and baby care, home styling and decor, travel experiences, and everyday comfortable fashion here. I'm genuine and love to share the funnies of raising kids!

What's the story behind the blog name?

The name Hey Mama Darling can be credited to my life-long childhood best friend. We've been friends since preschool, and she would always call me Darling. I can hear her now, "Oh Darling, it's going to be okay." It has always been important to me I share words, advice, and recommendations as if I'm talking with her. The word Darling is an every day reminder of my why and to always keep it real with you.
